Meet Dr. Phillip Behrens

A Foundation of Excellence
Dr. Behrens was accepted to medical school at the age of 17 at Indiana University School of Medicine through the 8 year B/MD program. He completed his undergraduate coursework at the University of Southern Indiana where he was awarded the President’s Medal, the highest award given to the #1 graduating senior.
At Indiana University, Dr Behrens ranked in the top 15% of his medical school class. He was awarded membership into Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Dr. Behrens completed a 5 year residency in orthopedics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, California. He then traveled to Orlando, Florida where he completed a fellowship in minimally invasive spine surgery at the Masson Spine Institute under the tutelage of neurosurgeon, Dr. Robert Masson.
Dr. Behrens has a strong research focus on stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine. He has authored 8 journal articles, 19 abstracts and 8 presentations. Dr. Behrens is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS).
Outside of the hospital Dr Behrens enjoys racing in Ironman 70.3 triathlons. He and his wife, Mojdeh, have a daughter, Eleanor aka Ellie. Dr Behrens also enjoys skeet shooting and classic car restoration.
Dr. Behrens co-founded Walqer Inc., a next-generation company dedicated to improving patient mobilization utilizing AI. We excitedly await the launch of our first mobility device in Fall 2026.
